Week of March 16,2015
Dear Parents,
THANK YOU: Thank you to our Room Moms and
their helpers who hosted our St. Patrick’s Day Celebration. The children had a
wonderful time. We appreciate all the parents who sent in food and supplies
also.
Here is an overview of this week:
Religion:
We will be talking about how our families
celebrate special days at home. What foods, music and games do they enjoy? The
objectives in our “Seeds” lesson will include:
The
children will identify different ways of sharing bread.
The
children will thank God for giving us life and food.
The
children will recognize loving and unloving actions involving sharing with
others.
Math: Continue our discussion of measuring
tools, including thermometers, scales, measuring tapes and cups. Measuring
tools let us know how hot, how heavy, how wide, how long and how tall things
are around us. We will start a new BIG BOOK called “Parts of a Whole” and learn
the meaning of the word divide and how parts make up a whole.
Science: We will talk about the panda bear.
SRA READING: Topics will include the following:
Extend
a sentence with additional words.
Introduce
the letters and sounds of Rr and Gg.
Identify
the beginning and ending sounds of Rr and Gg in words.
Blend
final consonant sounds.
Add
beginning consonant sounds to __ig:__ip: __et:
___at:
___ug: ___an.
Identify
the number of syllables in a word.
Have a great week!
