Week of February 8, 2015

 

Dear Parents,

 

VALENTINES DAY: The TYKERS will have a Valentine Party on Friday. There are 23 children in our class and it is easier if you have your child sign the cards but do not put names on the envelopes. That way they can just drop them in each child’s bag.

 

REMINDER: There is no school next Monday in observance of President’s Day.

 

Here is an overview of this week:

 

Religion: We will be talking about the meaning of First Communion and reminding the children that communion is a gift from God to help us grow and live as friends of Jesus.  Our Church family gathers at Mass to say thank you to God for his love.

 In our “Seeds” lesson they will hear the story about how Jesus heals a man with leprosy. Jesus came to show us how God loves us.

 

Math: We will be talking about things that come in pairs and continue with our introduction to addition.

 

Science: We will be talking about lions and monkeys.

 

SRA READING: Our topics this week will include:

Ÿ  Introduction of the High Frequency Word____have.

Ÿ  We will be adding beginning consonants to the rimes___ip and ___an.

Ÿ  We will be talking about the roles of an author and illustrator.

Ÿ  We will hear, discriminate and pronounce separate syllables in words.

Ÿ  We will be introducing the beginning and ending sound of Ll.
