Week of February 2, 2015

 

Dear Parents,

 

REMINDER: Friday is a half day. Students will be dismissed at 12:00 noon.

 

We will begin testing this week for our SLA’s. We will be asking the children to match pictures with the beginning sounds of the letters we have covered so far and we will also ask them to read their sight words for us. They should be able to read the following words: a, and, see, at, is, on, in, I.

They should also be able to identify both upper and lower case letters of the alphabet.

In math we will ask them identify numbers 0-30.

 

Here is an overview of this week:

 

Religion: We will be talking about the Bible story of “Loaves and Fishes.” In our “Seeds “ lesson we will talk about Sunday’s Gospel and recognize the love and care Jesus has for others. The children will understand the importance of loving and caring for family members.

 

Math: We will talk about the term pairs and that 5 pairs make   10.

 

Science: We will finish our unit on the farm and talk about the Lion.

 

SRA READING: Topics for this week will include.

Ÿ  Blending beginning consonants with ___an.

Ÿ  Introduce the letters and sounds of Tt and Nn.

Ÿ  Introduce pre-decodable #10.
