Week of December 2, 2014
Dear Parents,
THANK YOU: Thank you to Heather Akoubian
and her helpers for hosting our Thanksgiving Celebration. The children enjoyed
eating the turkey, carrots, popcorn and cornbread. We appreciate all the
parents who sent in paper goods and food.
CHRISTMAS PLAY: The TYKERS will be
participating in the annual SSJ Christmas Play which will be held the evening
of December 18th.We will be singing “Joy to the World.” I will be sending home an angel costume for your
child to wear. They will come in their costumes that evening. Please have your
child practice memorizing the words to our song. If your child will NOT be
participating in the performance, please let me know.
Here is an overview of this week:
Religion: We will be talking about Advent
and the events leading up to the birth of Jesus. Our “Seeds” lesson will focus
on Our Lady Of Guadalupe and the Baptism of Jesus by his cousin John.
Animal of the Week: We will finish the
Jaguar and Ibex and start learning about the Kangaroo.
Math: We will compare the capacity of
objects by determining which holds more, less or the same.
SRA
READING: Topics we will discuss this week will include the following:
Recognize
that some words can be put together to form larger words.
Identify
and discuss meaningful details in illustrations.
Extend
a sentence by adding more words.
Introduce
the letters Tt, Uu, Vv, Ww, and Xx.
Read
pre-decodable #6.
Continue
to talk about Community Helpers.
Please
continue to have your child read their Sight Words at home from their
pre-decodables and flash cards.
