Dear Parents,

REMINDER: The TYKERS will be participating in our annual SSJ Christmas play on Thursday evening, December 18th.  I will be sending home their costumes this week. Please iron them and have your child come dressed in their costume that evening. Girls should wear a white blouse and white tights and light colored shorts or skirts under the angel dress. Boys should also wear a white shirt or t shirt and light colored pants under the costume. I would like them to leave the costume after the play, so make sure they are dressed appropriately. If your child will NOT be participating that evening, please let me know. Continue to have them practice saying the words to “Joy To The World.”

LOAVES AND FISHES: We are asking that each child send in a bag of wrapped Christmas candy to help fill treat bags for the needy children served by the Loaves and Fishes Soup Kitchen. Mrs. Dzida talked to the children before Thanksgiving about this project and I will remind them that this is a way to share Jesus’ love as we prepare for His birth on Christmas.

Here is an overview of this week:

Religion: We will continue to talk about Advent and the many legends and customs of Christmas. Our “Seeds” lesson will remind the children that when we give a hug, or smile, or talk with someone to show our love, we are getting a loving heart ready for Jesus’ birthday.

Math: We will talk about numbers 10-20 and count out objects to match those numbers. Please have your child practice recognizing those numbers at home also.

Ÿ  SRA READING: Topics will include:

Ÿ  Introduction of the sight word___is.

Ÿ  Blend two syllable words.

Ÿ  Talk about letters  Ww, Xx, Yy and Zz.

Ÿ  Read pre-decodable #7.

Ÿ  Continue to have your child read their sight words at home as well as all their pre-decodables.

Have a great week!
