Week of October 5,  2014

 

Dear Parents,

 

Thank you to all the parents who sent in baked goods for Café  SSJ and supported our Parish Festival this past weekend. It is a very special event that the children look forward to every year.

FAMILY PICTURE: Please send in a family picture so we can complete our “Family” bulletin board. Thank you to all those parents who sent one in already.

 

HOMEWORK: We will be sending home a name practice paper today for homework.  Please supervise your child closely when they are writing their names to make sure they are starting all their letter from the TOP. They should always use a pencil and write it as it appears on the paper. The initial letter should be upper case and the rest lower case.

 

Here is an overview of this week:

 

Religion: We will be talking about the Bible Story, “Jesus Is the

Good Shepherd” and Sunday’s Gospel, which is the “The Wedding Feast” and pointing out that Jesus invites us to a party each Sunday at Church.

Math: We will be talking about solid shapes, cones, cubes, cylinders and spheres. We will be sorting bugs according to attributes and displaying the information on a graph.

Science: The Deer Family.

 

SRA READING: Objectives will be:

Ÿ  Describe characters in a selection.

Ÿ  Sequence a story.

Ÿ  Identify the initial letter of their name.

Ÿ  Understand that words are separated by spaces in print.

Ÿ  Read pre-decodable # 2.
