Week of September 30, 2014


Dear Parents,

 
PARKING: As the Parish Festival nears, the number of parking spaces in our lot gets smaller. Please allow extra time at morning drop-off, and pick-up in the afternoon.

 
NOON DISMISSAL ON FRIDAY: PICK YOUR CHILD UP PROMPTLY AT 12:00 NOON.

 
NO SCHOOL ON MONDAY: There is no school on Monday for festival clean-up

 
STAY CARE CLOSED ON FRIDAY: This is a reminder that on Friday, October 3, Stay Care will be CLOSED.

 
CAFÉ SSJ: Remember to send in your baked goods for the Festival bake booth. They can be brought in any time during the weekend if you are unable to send them at the specified TYKE time.


Family Picture:  We will be starting a new unit on families.  Please bring in a family picture. (It can be a Christmas picture)  We will hang them in the classroom for most of the school year.


BLESSING OF THE ANIMALS: The Blessing of the Animals will take place on Friday, October 3 at 11:30. Parents are invited to join us with whatever leashed or caged animals you want to bring. TYKE students may bring a stuffed animal that fits in their backpack .


EARN SERVICE HOURS AT FESTIVAL: Have fun supporting the parish’s largest community event and earn service hours. Check the school website for more information.


Here is an overview of this week:

Religion: Discover that God made each of them special and He loves them very much.

               We will listen to Sunday’s gospel in “Seeds,” and learn about the life of St.

                Francis.

Math: Objectives  will be : Describe and identify a sphere, cone, cube and cylinder.

                                       Understand the relationship between numbers and quantities.

Science: Finish the Camel Family and start the Deer Family.

 

SRA Reading: Objectives for this week will be:

Ÿ  Introduce the High Frequency Word____a.

Ÿ  Be introduced to the alphabet through their names.

Ÿ  Learn about spacing between words.

Ÿ  Identify individual words in a sentence.

Ÿ  Use left to right directionality.
