Week of March 23, 2014
Dear Parents,
RETREAT DAY: The TYKE students will be joining the SSJ student body
for a school wide retreat this Friday, March 28. Our theme will be “Peace and
Justice” and in TYKE we will talk about “The Good Samaritan.” Our day will
begin with Mass at 8:15, and end with a prayer service. We would appreciate the
help of parents in the distribution of a pizza lunch at 11:30, and supervision
of our students during the lunch recess time.
Our children will be eating lunch with their “school families “and then
playing on the sand area near the “Big Yard” at 12:00. (You must be live
scanned to help with these activities.)
JANA ALYRA: The TYKERS, Kindergarten and primary grades will be
attending a concert by Jana Alayra in the Church at 1:30 on Retreat Day. You
are all invited to attend and bring younger siblings. You will be able to
purchase her CD’s and DVD’s outside of Church after her concert.
TRAVELING SCIENTIST: The TYKE students had a wonderful presentation
from the Orange County Department of Education’s “Traveling Scientist” last
Thursday. The scientist talked to them about the common characteristics of
mammals and brought live animals for them to see and touch. The children were
very excited to see an opossum, rabbit, chinchilla and a guinea pig. We are
very grateful to the Lewis Family for making it possible for the children to
experience this wonderful program.
Here is an overview of this week:
Religion: Retreat preparation and discussion of Stations.
Animal of the Week: Opossum and Owls.
Math: Measurement.
SRA READING: We will be introducing the letter Rr and reading
Pre-decodable #12.
Have a great week!
