Week of November 10, 2013
Dear Parents,
CONFERENCE WEEK: This is conference week
and all students will be dismissed at 12 noon on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and
Thursday. Friday will be a full day of school. We are allotting 30 minutes per
conference, so we will have time to discuss your child’s report card as well as
any questions or concerns you may have regarding your child’s progress.
Here is an overview of this week:
Religion: We will be talking about
sharing and how it shows God’s love to others.
Math: We will continue discussing
graphing.
Animal of the Week: Frogs and geese.
SRA READING: We will be introducing the
letters Dd, Ee, Ff, Gg and Hh. We will be reviewing the three High Frequency
Words we have learned: a, and & the. Please make flash cards of these words
and have your child read them EVERY day.
PRINTING: We have begun to write our
letters each day in class. Please have your child practice writing at home,
using a pencil and lined paper. Make sure they start ALL letters from the TOP.
If they learn to make them incorrectly, it is very difficult to change their
direction. I will be giving you printing guides at our conference. One of the speakers at our in-service meeting
on Friday stressed the importance of printing as a way to strengthen their
reading skills and reinforce alphabet recognition.
I am looking forward to meeting with all
of you.
