Week of November 12, 2012
Dear Parents,
CONFERENCE WEEK: Remember this is conference week. Monday,
Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday are half days and we will be dismissing at
12:00 noon. We will have regular hours
on Friday, which is a full day of school.
THANKSGIVING WEEK: Check our Room Mom’s online list if you would
like to send in food or paper goods for our Thanksgiving party, which will be
next week. We will have regular days on Monday and Tuesday and Wednesday will be a half day.
Here is an overview of this week:
Religion: Our topic will be God gives us our senses.
Math: We will be talking about what happens in the morning,
afternoon and evening, and numbers 11-20. Please make or buy
flashcards with numbers 1-20 on them for your child to practice number
recognition.
Animal of the Week: Hippo and Ibex.
Social Studies: We will continue to talk about the voyage of the
Pilgrims on the Mayflower and what it was like for a child to travel on that
ship. We will also talk about the hardships they all endured while establishing
Plymouth.
SRA READING: We will be sending home Pre-Decodable # 5 today.
We will be talking about the letters Nn,Oo,Pp,Qq and Rr. We will
introduce another High Frequency Word_____on. Please have your child read their
sight words EVERY day from flashcards. They will need to know 20 by the end of
the year and it is best to keep them current on the words as they are
introduced.
