Week of January 9, 2012
Dear Parents,
OPEN HOUSE: You can earn DOUBLE SERVICE HOURS if you can come to Colman Hall on Sunday, January 20 at 7:00 A.M. and help hang the art for the school wide Art Show which will be held during Open House. Colman Hall is the venue for a basketball tournament on Saturday and Sunday afternoon, so we are unable to hang it before Sunday morning. The art work will have Velcro tabs, so you will not need to use a stapler or pins. See me if you are interested in doing this task for hours.
HIGH FREQUENCY WORDS: I informally tested the children on their sight words last week and was surprised at how many were unable to read them. They should be able to recognize 8 sight words at this time. Please make flash cards for your child and have them practice them each day. The end of the second quarter is coming soon (January 20) and proficiency in reading their sight words will be part of their reading readiness grade.

Here is an overview of our week:
Religion: We will be talking about how our families help us discover God’s world.
Animal of the Week: Farm animals. We have an incubator in our room and we are waiting patiently for the day our chicks will hatch.
SRA READING: We will be talking about the sounds of Hh,and Nn and adding beginning consonants to the endings ___ig, and ___an. Please have your child practice this skill at home.
