Week of January 2, 2012
Dear Parents,
I hope you all had a relaxing Christmas break and wish you and your families the best in the New Year.
REMINDER: This Friday will be a half day and all students will be dismissed at !2:00 noon. Stay Care will be available.
OPEN HOUSE: Sts. Simon & Jude School will be having their Open House on Sunday, January 29. We are starting a unit on the Farm in preparation for this very special day. I would like each family to take their TYKE student to Centennial Farm which is located in the Orange County Fairgrounds complex. Admission is free and it is open most days. Please take a picture of your child at the farm and send it in to me for our special Open House bulletin board.
We will be hatching baby chicks in the classroom which are a special attraction for Open House. The children are always very excited to see the process.
Here is an overview of this week:
Religion: We will be talking about God’s gift of our senses.
Animal of the Week: Cows
SRA Reading: We will be talking about the sound of Pp and introducing the High Frequency Word____at. We will also be forming new words by adding the letters B,P,H,R,D,J,L,M and T to the ending ____ug. This is the first of several endings we will be discussing. Please reinforce these concepts at home.
Have a great week!
