Week of September 23, 2013
Dear Parents,
The children did very well on our “field
trip” to Christ Presbyterian, our evacuation destination. They walked quickly
and quietly . Before we left, we “hid” in Mrs. Tucker’s room. However, if we
have to hide again, we will be going into the storage closet in our classroom.
We all went in last week, and we do fit. Please continue to reassure your child
that we are practicing these drills, just as we do for fire and earthquake. We
will be having drills throughout the year.
FAMILY PHOTOS: Thank you to the parents
who sent in their family photo for our bulletin board. We will be starting our
unit on Families this week. Please send in a photo if you have not done so
already.
PICTURE DAY: Picture Day is this
Wednesday. Be sure to have your child wear their school uniform, not their PE
shorts. They should bring their picture envelope with payment on that day, if
they have not sent it in already.
I have extra envelopes if you need them.
Here is an overview of this week:
Religion: We will remind them that they
are all special in God’s eyes.
Math: We will create our own patterns.
Animal of the Week: Bear and Camel
SRA READING: We will be introducing our
first pre-decodable this week and determining which words rhyme. We will
continue with Nursery Rhymes, having the children fill in the missing words. We
will review the terms author, illustrator, table of contents and what they
mean.
Have a great week!
