Week of February 11,2013
Dear Parents,
FISH FRY: The TYKE class parents are one of the
hosts of SSJ’s first Fish Fry of Lent. Please be sure
to send in a dessert on Friday. We are hoping for %100 participation. If you
are able to volunteer your time as a server, please tell Cristina Botas, our
Room Mom. The Fish Fry is a great way to get service hours and is really fun. I
hope to see you all there!
SAVE THE DATE: Our “Animal Alphabet” play will be on Friday, May
3, at 9:00 and will last approximately 20 minutes. This is also a half day. We
will have a short reception following in our “backyard.” I just wanted to give you early notice in case any work schedules
need to be adjusted. I will be sending out more information and your child’s “part”
after Easter.
ASH WEDNESDAY: The TYKE students will be
attending the 11:00 Mass and receiving their ashes on Wednesday. You are
welcome to join us. The children are expected to show reverence during the
entire Mass and are not permitted to leave to use the restroom. We will make
sure they use the bathroom before going over to church.
LENTEN PROJECT: This year we are asking our
students to embrace the true meaning of Lent by performing “26 Acts of Kindness.” I will be explaining this
special project to the children and discussing various ways they can accomplish
this goal. I ask that you encourage your child’s
participation by sharing some ideas with them at home. They can add a sticker
next to their name on a classroom chart if they can tell us their act of
kindness. Encourage them to do something different each day. Enclosed is a list
of ideas and a paper to chart their progress.
