Week of October 15,2012

Dear Parents,

Mrs. Nicole Dutton, the teaching assistant for TYKE, will be gone for the next 3 weeks. Mrs. Mary Jenkins, who worked with TYKE students for many years, will be filling in for Nicole. We wish Mrs. Dutton a speedy recovery.

Here is an overview of this week:

Religion: We will be talking about the “Good Samaritan.”

Math: We will be talking about graphs.

        Animal of the Week: Eagle

SRA Reading: We will introduce predecodable #3. “Three Billy Goats Gruff” will be our folktale. We will be introducing the letters Aa and Bb. If your child is unable to recognize the letters of the alphabet, I suggest you make or buy flashcards showing the uppercase letter on one side and the lower case letter on the other. This way they can learn to recognize them out of sequence and without the capital letter next to it.

We will be participating in “Jump Rope for Heart” with the rest of the student body. Please read the principal’s online newsletter for more information on this event.

Information on the school auction will also be in her newsletter. It is a great school event, and a wonderful way to meet other parents.  When you purchase your tickets, mention you are a TYKE parent and they will usually seat you at a table with other parents from our class.

Have a great week!
