Week of November 7, 2011

Week of November 7, 2011

Dear Parents,

CONFERENCE WEEK: This is conference week and we will be having half days on Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday. Dismissal will be at 12:00 Noon. Stay Care will be available all week. I am looking forward to talking with all of you and answering any questions you may have regarding your child’s progress or our curriculum.

SWEATSHIRTS: Please write your child’s name on their sweatshirt label.  I ask them to put their sweatshirts IN their backpacks, but they often forget and they land on the floor and nobody claims them.

Here is an overview of this week:

Religion: Our topic will be “God Made You.”

            Animal of the  Week: Frog

Nursery Rhyme: “The Old Woman in the Shoe.”

Math:  Counting and coloring pictures to match the number.

Social Studies: We are talking about the Pilgrims and their journey on the Mayflower. We are also starting to talk about children around the world. Our first country will be Vietnam. If you have any information or things from Vietnam that you would like to share with the class, please see me.

SRA Reading: We will be introducing another High Frequency Word___ON.

We will be talking about the letters Nn, Oo, Pp, Qq,and Rr.  Please make or buy flashcards with both capital and small letters on different sides, so your child can learn to recognize them separately. They should  also be able to read their High Frequency Words from flashcards.

Have a great week!
