Week of January 7,2013
Dear Parents,
I hope you all had a wonderful Holiday
season. We will be moving at a very fast pace the next few months. Be sure to read all of my letters carefully
so you can reinforce
all the new skills we will be
learning in the classroom at home.
OPEN HOUSE: Sts Simon and Jude School
will be hosting their Open House on Sunday, January 27. Read Mrs. Smith’s
online letter for more details on this special event.
FARM UNIT: We are starting a unit on the Farm and we will
be hatching baby chicks in the classroom, an event the children really enjoy!
I would like each family to take their child
to Centennial Farm, which is located at the Orange County Fairgrounds.
Admission is free and they are open most days in the afternoon. Please send in a photo of your child with a
farm animal for our Open House Bulletin Board.
HALF DAY: This Friday is half day. We
will dismiss at 12 noon.
Here is an overview of this week:
Religion:
We thank God for the gift of our senses.
` Animal
of the Week: We will talk about cows.
SRA READING: We will be introducing the
beginning and ending sounds of D and P and adding beginning consonants to the
word___at. (e.g. sat, mat, bat etc) This is a fun activity to do at home. We
will also introduce pre-decodable #8.
Have a great week!
